If you're living with a cracked tooth, a filling that has worn down, a gap where a tooth used to be, or dentures that no longer fit the way they should, you're probably wondering what can be done and where to start. Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and replacing damaged or missing teeth so you can chew, speak, and smile with confidence again. At Valley Dental Care in Mayfield, Dr. Gregory Liberatore and Dr. Jonathan Montag help patients of all ages rebuild healthy, functional smiles.
Restorative dentistry covers a wide range of treatments, from a simple tooth-colored filling to a full set of implant-supported dentures. The goal is the same in every case: restore the structure and function of your teeth while protecting your long-term oral health. Small areas of decay can often be treated with dental fillings or composite bonding. Larger damage may call for a crown, which covers and strengthens the whole tooth.
When teeth are missing, we can fill the space with a bridge, a dental implant, or a complete or partial denture. For patients who want more stability than traditional dentures offer, we provide implant-supported dentures and fixed implant-supported bridges. We also repair or replace existing dentures, even if you had them made somewhere else. Restorative care can help in many situations, including:
- Cavities, worn fillings, or teeth weakened by decay
- Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth, including those from an injury
- One or more missing teeth
- Loose, uncomfortable, or damaged dentures
- Teeth that need gum reshaping (crown lengthening) before a restoration can be placed
Your first visit begins with a thorough dental exam. We look closely at your teeth, gums, and bite, and we talk with you about what you've been noticing, whether that's sensitivity, discomfort while chewing, or concerns about how your smile looks. A good restoration depends on a healthy foundation. If we find signs of gum disease, we may recommend gum disease treatment, such as scaling and root planing, before moving forward.
From there, we explain your options in plain language. Many problems can be solved in more than one way. A missing tooth, for example, might be replaced with a bridge, an implant, or a partial denture, and each choice comes with different considerations. We walk you through how each one works so you can make the decision that fits your needs and priorities. If a tooth can't be saved, we offer simple extractions and can plan the replacement at the same time.
How We Deliver Your Treatment
One feature that sets our office apart is our on-site dental lab. Because crowns, bridges, and dentures can be crafted and adjusted close to where you're treated, our team can coordinate closely on fit and appearance throughout your care. We use modern equipment, including laser dentistry where appropriate, chosen with safety and efficiency in mind. Our goal is for every visit to feel comfortable and calm.
We also understand that dental problems don't always wait for a scheduled appointment. If you crack a tooth, injure your mouth, or lose a restoration, we offer emergency dental appointments, including same-day emergency care. For families, we see children as young as two, and parents are welcome in the treatment room. We also treat children with special healthcare needs.
Caring for Your Restorations
Restorations last best when they're cared for like natural teeth. That means brushing twice a day, cleaning between your teeth daily, and keeping up with regular dental cleanings and exams. Crowns and bridges need careful cleaning along the gumline. Dentures should be cleaned daily and checked periodically for fit, since the shape of your mouth can change over time.
If you have dental implants, we provide ongoing implant maintenance to help protect the surrounding gums and bone. Patients with a history of gum disease may benefit from periodontal maintenance visits. At each checkup, we examine your restorations for wear and catch small issues before they become bigger ones. If anything feels off between visits, such as a high spot when you bite or a denture that rubs, let us know and we'll take a look.
Payment and Financing
Valley Dental Care is an out-of-network office, so we don't participate in insurance plans directly. We do file claims on your behalf so you can use any out-of-network benefits your plan provides. We also welcome self-pay patients. To help spread the cost of treatment over time, we offer financing through CareCredit. We're happy to review your treatment plan and costs with you before any work begins, so you know what to expect.
We proudly serve patients from Mayfield, Gloversville, Northville, Broadalbin, Amsterdam, Speculator, and the surrounding communities. If a damaged or missing tooth has been on your mind, we'd be glad to help you explore your options. Contact our office today to schedule your visit.
