Loose dentures can make everyday moments harder than they should be. A bite of an apple, a laugh at dinner, or a conversation at work can turn into a worry about whether your teeth will shift. For many people who have lost most or all of their teeth, implant-supported dentures offer a steadier option. At Valley Dental Care in Mayfield, we help patients understand how this treatment works and whether it fits their needs, so they can make a confident decision.
An implant-supported denture is a full arch of replacement teeth that attaches to dental implants placed in the jaw. A traditional denture rests on the gums and relies on suction or adhesive. This type of denture connects to implants that act as anchors, which gives it a more secure foundation. The denture itself is custom-made to fit your mouth and complement your smile. Because we have an on-site dental lab, our team can work closely on the details of your restoration without sending everything out to an outside facility.
This treatment often helps adults who are missing most or all of their teeth in the upper or lower jaw. It also helps people who already wear dentures and feel frustrated by how they fit. Patients come to us in many different situations, including:
- Wearing a complete denture that slips, rubs, or needs frequent adhesive
- Facing the loss of remaining teeth that can no longer be saved
- Wanting a more stable alternative to a conventional denture
- Comparing removable options with a fixed implant-supported bridge
A common first question is whether you are a good fit. The answer depends on your individual mouth, so we start with a thorough dental exam. During that visit, we look at your teeth, gums, and jaw, review your health history, and talk about your goals. If you still have a few teeth that need to come out, we can discuss simple extractions as part of your plan. If gum health is a concern, our team also provides gum disease treatment and periodontal care. That way, your foundation is as healthy as possible before we move forward.
Another frequent concern is choosing between treatments. Because we offer conventional complete and partial dentures, dental implants, implant-supported dentures, and fixed implant-supported bridges, we can explain each option side by side. We do not steer you toward a single path. Instead, we walk you through how each choice differs in stability, care, and everyday use, so you can weigh what matters most to you. Dr. Gregory Liberatore and Dr. Jonathan Montag take the time to answer your questions in plain language.
Caring for Your New Smile Over Time
Like natural teeth, implant-supported dentures need daily care to stay clean and comfortable. We show you how to clean your denture and the areas around your implants. We also explain which habits help protect your investment. Brushing, rinsing, and keeping the gum tissue healthy all play a role. If you ever notice something that feels different, such as soreness or a change in fit, we encourage you to call us so we can take a look.
Regular checkups matter, too. Our practice provides implant maintenance and periodontal maintenance, so you can return to the same team that helped plan your treatment. During these visits, we check your implants, gums, and denture and clean the areas that are hard to reach at home. Over time, dentures may need adjustments or repairs. Because we repair and replace existing dentures, we can help keep yours working well as your needs change.
Payment, Insurance, and Financing
Valley Dental Care is an out-of-network office, which means we do not participate directly with insurance plans. We still want to make the process easier for you. We file claims on your behalf, so you can use any out-of-network benefits your plan may offer. We recommend checking with your insurance company to understand your coverage.
We also welcome self-pay patients. For those who prefer to spread out the cost of care, we accept CareCredit financing. Our front office team is happy to review your treatment plan with you and answer questions about payment before you begin, so there are no surprises along the way.
